SOCMA supplies OTR tire handlers and hydraulic cylinder handling equipment for mine maintenance. We review the component in the condition it will be lifted, including its complete assembly weight, accessible gripping surfaces and final service position.

A tire size code or carrier tonnage alone leaves important questions unanswered. The proposal needs to identify the attachment, the component it will grip and the position where the combined machine must support it. We establish those details before confirming an equipment configuration.

Identify the Component as It Will Be Handled

For a mining truck tire, confirm whether the task involves a bare tire, a tire with its rim or a complete wheel assembly. The supplied weight must include the items that remain attached during the move. Record outside diameter and width as measured, particularly when comparing new and worn tires.

For a hydraulic cylinder, describe the assembly state and provide overall length, barrel diameter, mass and center of gravity where known. Mark fittings, mounting eyes and surfaces excluded from clamp contact. This gives us a basis for assessing jaw geometry and support positions.

A Published OTR Tire Handler Configuration

Our mining truck tire handler product page includes a published configuration for 45/90R57 tires. It provides a useful reference for the attachment data that should accompany a technical enquiry.

Published reference item

Value

Attachment model

70C-TTC-N160

Referenced tire size

45/90R57

Attachment capacity

7,000 kg

Opening range

1,270 to 4,200 mm

Attachment mass

3,700 kg

This is a reference configuration, not a rating for every tire or wheel assembly. The attachment's own mass affects carrier selection, and the permitted load must be established for the matched machine at its intended working position. We confirm the current specification and application conditions in the technical offer.

Confirm the Grip and the Movements Needed

The opening range is one part of choosing a custom tire handling attachment. Tire width, pad contact, pickup orientation and clearance around the wheel also influence the selection. If rotation or tilt is required, describe the movement and the space available for the tire throughout it.

An OTR tire clamp attachment can be assessed for an existing suitable carrier or included in a complete equipment proposal. We identify the requested jaw and pad arrangement and review the hydraulic functions needed to operate it. Each movement should be included explicitly in the agreed specification.

Assess Hydraulic Cylinder Handling Separately

Cylinder handling needs its own component drawing and gripping assessment. A long assembly may have an offset center of gravity, while mounting eyes or fittings can obstruct an otherwise suitable support position. The service team's permitted contact zones should be marked on the drawing.

Our telescopic cylinder handler for mining is listed on a 20-ton class carrier. The telescopic arrangement is relevant when the component must be presented at a position beyond the front of the machine. Its suitability depends on the attachment and the load diagram at the required extension and height; the carrier class alone does not establish cylinder handling capacity.

Decide Whether to Use a New or Existing Carrier

When a mine already has a potential carrier, send its model and serial number, capacity plate, carriage or attachment interface, and auxiliary hydraulic data. We also need the proposed attachment mass and the location of the component relative to that interface.

For a new complete machine, the component and service task become the basis of the selection. Discuss the lifting arrangement, hydraulic circuits, control functions and applicable capacity information together. A fleet purchase covering several component sizes should state the approved combinations for each attachment.

Fit the Maintenance Bay and the Equipment Being Serviced

The handler must approach the service position with the component attached. Show the mine truck or machine being repaired, its relevant mounting position and the space between nearby structures. The tire or cylinder can determine the clearance needed even when the carrier itself fits through the bay.

Include the support stands, work platforms and component storage positions in the layout. For work outside the workshop, describe the surface and access conditions at the service location. Photographs from the handler's approach direction help us assess visibility and possible obstructions.

Record the Configuration in the Equipment Offer

We use the component records to narrow the heavy duty handling attachment range to the proposed mining application. The equipment quotation should then record the details needed by purchasing, maintenance and the operators who will use the supplied machine.

Component types and assembly states covered by the proposal.

Jaw opening, contact arrangement and the specified positioning functions.

Carrier interface, hydraulic connections and capacity information for the combination.

Pad and wear-part identification, supplied documents and the agreed inspection scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can tire and cylinder attachments be quoted in one enquiry

Yes. Provide a separate component record for each task. We assess the attachment and carrier requirements individually and identify any shared equipment that is suitable. Interchangeability must be confirmed through the interfaces, hydraulic requirements and applicable ratings.

Can an initial review use drawings instead of a physical component

Dimensioned drawings, verified weights and photographs can support the initial assessment. Identify which measurements are confirmed and which remain provisional. Any additional dimensional checks or fitment verification can then be agreed before the equipment specification is finalized.

How should replacement pads and jaw parts be identified

Use the supplied attachment model, serial number and part references when requesting replacements. Include photographs if the unit has been modified or its identification plate is unclear. These details help match the order to the actual assembly.

Request Equipment for Your Mining Maintenance Task

To request a mining handling equipment quotation, send the tire or cylinder records, the carrier information if one is available, and photographs of the service position. SOCMA can then address the attachment and complete-machine requirements in the proposal.
