On August 15th, the American MMH magazine released the 2021 global forklift manufacturer rankings. Due to some discrepancies in the quoted data of Chinese companies, China Fork Network is in line with the actual domestic situation and revised to China Fork Network: 2021 Global Forklift Manufacturing business leaderboard.

In 2021, the cumulative sales volume of five types of forklifts by domestic motorized industrial vehicle manufacturers will be: 1,099,383 units, an increase of 37.38% compared with 800,239 units in the same period last year. From the ranking, we can see that the magazine still lists six domestic enterprises, namely Heli, Hangcha, Longgong, Zhongli, Nuoli, and Liugong, among which Heli and Hangcha remain seventh respectively. No. 1 and No. 8, Longgong dropped from No. 14 to No. 16 last year, and Zhongli EP rose from No. 16 to No. 12 last year.

Although the magazine has noticed the development of domestic forklift manufacturers, it still fails to truly reflect the ranking of global industrial vehicles. There is a big discrepancy in citing the data of individual Chinese manufacturers. The authoritative data obtained by China Fork Network shows that Longgong The data of the two companies (Lonking) and LiuGong (LiuGong) have not been updated, and they are all citing the data of 2019, so there is a big discrepancy. Lonking's revenue in 2021 will be 4.1 billion yuan (about 643 million US dollars), so it has risen from the 14th place last year to the 13th place, and LiuGong's 2021 revenue will be 1 billion yuan (about 643 million US dollars). $157 million). There are also two Chinese companies that are not included in the ranking. Shaoguan BYD Industrial Co., Ltd. (BYD) ranks 17th with 2021 revenue of 1.6 billion yuan (about 251 million US dollars), and Ningbo Ruyi Co., Ltd. has 2021 revenue of 17. 950 million yuan (about 149 million US dollars) ranked 20th. Among them, BYD (BYD) is the leading brand of new energy electric forklifts. It entered the forklift industry in 2010. At present, the market for lithium-ion forklifts has more than 40,000 vehicles, and the maximum mileage of a single vehicle exceeds 60,000 kilometers; The production, sales, and quality of warehousing material handling products have always been among the best in the country, and "Xilin" brand products are well-known in 156 countries and regions.

China has entered the top 20 companies in the world, and its international influence has been continuously strengthened. In the first half of 2022, the sales volume of China's industrial vehicle industry continued to rise to nearly 590,000 units, and storage forklifts continued to grow. Enterprises mainly focusing on storage and logistics handling equipment may hit the world's top 20 in 2022.

As in previous years, the American Modern Material Handling Magazine, for various reasons, still failed to include Sweden's Kalmar and China's Sany in the ranking.

The following text is compiled by China Forklift Network (www.chinaforklift.com) from the American magazine "MMH Modern Material Handling".

How forklift sales will be different in 2021. While the first few months of the global COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 dampened demand for new forklifts, in 2021, sales picked up. Our annual leaderboard is a measure of this year-over-year change, with companies on this year's list seeing overall revenue growth of more than 18% in 2021.

On the whole, 2021 will be a year of growth for forklift suppliers, and 2020 will be affected by the new crown epidemic, when some industries are shut down for part of the time, while others are shelving equipment investment. 2021 does face ongoing challenges from the pandemic, mainly in terms of parts supply issues affecting forklift production, but demand for forklifts is proving favorable as shutdowns lift and many industries need forklifts to meet customer demand and fulfill operations .

The improved demand environment last year boosted sales for companies on the annual Top 20 Forklift Suppliers list. As in previous years, our list is based on the previous year's revenue data we obtained by surveying the top suppliers, so this year, it is based on 2021 global data. Total 2021 revenue for this year's list is more than $50.9 billion, up from about $42.8 billion in 2020, a full-year growth rate of 18.8%.

This growth curve is consistent with other industry studies. For example, the Industrial Forklift Association (ITA), which tracks sales data for its members North America, said earlier this year that North American sales of new forklifts in categories 1 to 5 would reach 347,677 in 2021, up from 230,134 forklifts sold in those categories in North America in 2020 .

Our annual Top 20 Forklift Supplier list is based on revenue data obtained from a questionnaire (see the box at the end of this article for more information on our criteria). While not a comprehensive study of the forklift market, it does show that the market is returning to growth as end users look to improve their material handling capabilities.

The pent-up demand in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic could accelerate the market in 2021, but the extent to which current headwinds, including inflation and geopolitical instability, will affect the market for the remainder of 2022, and the following year sales remains to be seen.

Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) remains at number one on our top 20 list. The company, which includes the Toyota and Raymond brands, saw revenue grow 25.7% from $12.67 billion in fiscal 2020 to $15.92 billion in fiscal 2021. The company sold 282,492 units in fiscal 2021, covering all forklift categories.

In company news last year, Toyota Material Handling (TMH) announced in December 2021 that Jeff Rufener would step down as TMH President and CEO and appoint Bill Finerty as TMH President and CEO, effective early 2022. Earlier this year, TMH unveiled 22 new electric forklifts in what it called the largest product launch in its history. Meanwhile, the company's Raymond brand celebrates its 100th anniversary, a major milestone for 2022.

According to its Industrial Forklifts and Services data in its FY 2021 annual report (KION reported its FY 2021 in early March 2022), KION ranks second in global revenue in 2021 at $7.37 billion (converted from euros, Based on end-2021 exchange rates), up from the 2020 revenue of $6.92 billion reported to us last year.

No. 3 Jungheinrich will have $5.51 billion in 2021 revenue, up from the $4.55 billion we listed for them last year. The company said it sold 162,400 units in 2021. In the Americas, Jungheinrich products are distributed by the Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas group, which launched its new range of reach trucks last August.

Mitsubishi (Logisnext) ranks fourth on our list with 2021 revenue of $4.04 billion, up from $3.78 billion the previous year. As you can see from the report, the company sold 103,000 units last year.

Last year, Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas Group and Kalmar signed an Americas supply agreement under which Kalmar will manufacture and supply the Group with the Mitsubishi forklift brand of Category V. Pneumatic tire forklift. Among other alliance initiatives in the Americas group, last year it partnered with Phantom Auto, a leading provider of interoperable teleoperation software, to enable the remote operation of certain driverless tractors and forklifts. Last year, the group also partnered with Powerfleet to offer North American customers a factory-installed telematics option.

Crown's revenue in fiscal 2021 was $4.01 billion, up from $3.62 billion in the prior year, securing fifth place.

No. 6 Hyster-Yale reported revenue of $3.07 billion in 2021, up from $2.81 billion in 2020. The company sold about 94,900 units in 2021, up from 85,500 units in 2020.

In the first quarter of 2021, the company's Nuvera fuel cell subsidiary sold its majority ownership in OneH2 for a gain of $4.6 million. Overall, Hyster-Yale says its goal remains the same: "Changing the world of materials and The way to ship from port to home. And the best overall value.”

The seventh-ranked Anhui Forklift Group's revenue increased from $1.93 billion in 2020 to $2.4 billion in 2021, an increase of nearly 25%. The company, which has its North American headquarters in Atlanta, sold 274,815 units worldwide in 2021.

In eighth place is Hangcha Group, which reported 2021 revenue of $2.27 billion, a sharp increase from the $1.26 billion we ranked last year, when Hangcha did not respond and we used 2019 data .

Doosan ranked ninth with revenue of $1.35 billion in 2021, up from $904 million in 2020. This strong growth was enough to move them up one place from last year.

Rounding out the top 10 is Manitou, whose 2021 forklift sales revenue was unavailable at press time. Like other suppliers who did not respond in a timely manner, or whose annual reports did not explicitly list 2021 revenue related to forklift sales, we based on previous year data provided to us by Manitou (2020 data) on the leaderboard. Manitou had $1.2 billion in revenue in 2020.

The bottom half of our top 20 has some strong performers (in percentage terms) on our list this year.

Clark Material Handling reported revenue of $812 million in 2021, up from $705 million in 2020, an increase of 15.2%. In recent company news, Clark released its S-Series three-wheeled electric forklifts globally in 2021, and earlier this year introduced the TWLi forklift, a lithium-powered three-wheeled forklift.

Jumping to No. 12 this year is Zhejiang Zhongli, whose brand is Big Joe. The company is growing rapidly, from $359 million in sales in 2020 to $652 million in 2021, a nearly 82% increase in revenue. The company reported that it sold 245,000 powered forklifts in 2021.

Dan Rosskam, president of Big Lift LLC, a business unit of EP, noted in a survey for Hyundai magazine that Big Joe's product line has expanded into autonomous and lithium-powered units, and its internal focus on material sourcing has helped Be prepared to sell when market demand rebounds.

"I'm very proud that our team has largely foreseen and mitigated many supply chain issues, allowing us to accelerate growth in a very challenging macro environment," Rosskamm said.

No. 13 this year is Komatsu, whose information was unavailable at press time, so we're using the $705 million figure Komatsu provided us last year.

Hyudai Material Handling, a subsidiary of Hyundai True Co., posted strong growth this year, coming in at No. 14. In 2021, the company's revenue was $441 million, up from the $406 million we reported for it last year. In the 2021 Americas News, Hyundai named Lewis Byers as vice president and chief operating officer of Hyundai's Material Handling Forklift Division, reporting to JY Kim, president and CEO of Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas.

Coming in at No. 15 is Combilift, with 2021 revenue of $388 million, up from $366 million in 2020. The company's U.S. headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, sold 6,919 units in 2021, up from 6,477 units in 2020.

Combilift launched its Aisle Master OP forklifts aimed at the e-commerce industry in 2021, though the company added that all of its industries experienced "unusual demand" in 2021, including warehousing, multi-directional forklifts and oversized or heavy loads. Demand. The company continues its policy of reinvesting 7% of its turnover into research and development.

Longgong Forklift Co., Ltd. did not respond by press time, and we quoted figures from the company last year, which had revenue of $343 million, which puts them at No. 16 on the list.

A new addition to the top 20 last year, Noblelift has grown to maintain its No. 17 position. The company reported revenue of $240 million in 2021, up 60% from $150 million in 2020. In 2021, Noblelift sold 123,000 powered forklifts across all categories.

At No. 18 is Luigong with $94 million. Its product line includes electric forklifts, internal combustion forklifts, tractors and automated guided vehicles.

Moving up to No. 19 is Godrej & Boyce, which reported revenue of $86.8 million in 2021, up from $60.6 million in 2020. The Godrej material handling business unit of the diversified company is said to be the largest supplier of forklift trucks in India. The company said it sold 4,160 powered industrial vehicles in 2021.

Hubtex's revenue remained unchanged at $72 million, making it into our top 20.

Analysts in the forklift market pointed out that compared with the market affected by the epidemic in 2020, forklift sales rebounded strongly in 2021. Additionally, with major forklift suppliers offering self-driving models, there is reason for long-term optimism as well as alternative power options that suit users' long-term interest in automation and sustainability.

For example, Interact Analysis predicted in late 2021 that the global forklift market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1% from 2021 to 2030, higher than previous forecasts.

Analyzing macroeconomic conditions (such as inflation, war, COVID-19) is difficult to predict, but it is certain that material handling will still occur, and new forklifts will be an important part of meeting this demand, and these products will be more Digitization and automation.
