Codorníu, Spain’s leading producer of premium cava and wine, has commissioned Jungheinrich to automate pallet transportation at its San Sadurni De Noya base in northeastern Spain.

　　As the world's largest producer of bottled fermented sparkling wine, Codorníu operates a total of 14 wine cellars. In order to cope with such a high output, part of the automated and digital logistics is supported by an automated guided vehicle (AGV) system, which guarantees a particularly reliable and process-safe transportation sequence.

Jungheinrich's solution for Codorníu is an effective combination of manual and automated warehouse operations, for which 9 AGVs will be provided. The new ERC 213a can ensure the smooth transportation of goods between a single shelf and a block warehouse. AGV can also ensure that the pallets are neatly stacked and stacked. The two warehouses have a total of more than 6,000 storage locations.

Due to its compact design, ERC 213a is ideal for working in narrow aisles and can lift loads up to 1,300 kg to a maximum lifting height of 3800 mm. Even at such a high lifting height, the electronically controlled powerful lifting motor can ensure smooth and quiet lifting and lowering. The vehicle is operated by control software and uses laser technology for navigation. To this end, a reflector is installed on a 700 m long track. The ERC 213a can use the reflector to orient it in space.

　　 In order to ensure safety when working with manual vehicles and pedestrians, the AGV is equipped with a personal safety scanner. They will continuously scan for obstacles in the vehicle environment and stop driving when necessary when encountering people.
