Sales of construction machinery reversed and declined in the first three quarters, and forklifts fell steadily
According to data from China Construction Machinery Industry Association and China Road Machinery Network, in the first three quarters of 2021, my country's construction machinery industry experienced a surging sales in the first quarter and a gradual decline in the second and third quarters.
The excavator industry declined significantly, reflecting the overall downward trend.
Take the excavator industry as an example. The monthly sales volume in March was 79,035 units, setting a new historical record. Beginning in April, the domestic sales volume was 41,100, a year-on-year decrease of 5.24%. In October 2021, 18,964 excavators were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 30.6%. Among them, 12,608 were domestic, a year-on-year decrease of 47.2%, the largest drop in the year. Since the industry's recovery in the second half of 2016, my country's construction machinery industry, which has continued to rise all the way, has once again experienced a decline this year.
The overall growth of the forklift industry has fallen, reflecting market expectations
In the first three quarters, the cumulative sales of forklifts amounted to 846,688 units, a year-on-year increase of 285,660 units, an increase of 50.9%. Among them, the cumulative sales of domestic enterprises were 779,173 units, an increase of 261,790 units, an increase of 50.6%; the cumulative sales of foreign capital was 67,515 units, an increase of 23,870 units, an increase of 54.7%; the cumulative sales of electric forklifts were 494,348 units, an increase of 219,112 units, an increase of 79.6%. Forklifts accounted for 58.4%; cumulative sales of internal combustion forklifts were 352,340 units, an increase of 66,538 units or 23.3% year-on-year. Cumulative export sales in the first three quarters were 228,186 units, accounting for 27% of total sales, an increase of 102,401 units or 81.4% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative export of electric forklifts was 170,174, an increase of 82468 units, an increase of 94%; the cumulative export of electric forklifts accounted for 74.6%, and the cumulative export of internal combustion forklifts was 58,012, an increase of 19,933 units, an increase of 52.3%. The monthly sales volume of forklifts is shown in Figure 10.
Aerial work truck and lifting work platform
In the first three quarters, the cumulative sales of lifting work platforms were 127,745 units, an increase of 46,992 units or 58.2% year-on-year. The cumulative domestic sales in the first three quarters were 94,957 units, accounting for 74.3% of total sales, an increase of 26,938 units, or 39.6% year-on-year; cumulative exports of 32,788 units, accounting for 25.7% of total sales, an increase of 20054 units, an increase of 157%. The monthly sales volume of the lifting work platform is shown in Figure 13.
The cumulative sales of aerial work vehicles in the first three quarters were 2,914 units, an increase of 609 units or 26.4% year-on-year. The cumulative domestic sales were 2,894 units, accounting for 99.3% of the total sales. The monthly sales volume of aerial work trucks is shown in Figure 14.
