Explosion-proof equipment is a very niche product that can only be used in specific environments. So in which environment, must use explosion-proof forklift?
Places where a potentially dangerous atmosphere can be formed by the presence of flammable-gas-vapour-mists-powders have to use flameproof equipments.
An atmosphere which in the presence of environmental conditions and / or related to the operation of plant or equipment, can become explosive. Generally, explosive substances can occur, such as flammable gasses, vapours and dusts dispersed in air (oxgen combustion) and also where ignition could result from a spark (electrical or mechanical), electrical arc, overheating, flame, radiation compression, etc.
Only those flammable dusts that react with the oxygen from air are considered; so dusts that may contain combustive agents are excluded, even though they could explode in absence of atmospheric oxygen.
Detailed industrials are as followings:
1, Chemical Industries
In chemical industries, flammable gases, liquids and solids are transformed and processed in various ways. These processes may form explosive mixtures.
2, Land fills and construction engineering
Land fills may form flammable land fill gas.
To avoid these gasses from speading in an uncontrolled way and possibly catching fire, adequate technical measures must be implemented. Flamable gasses, origionating from different sources, can accumulate in poorly ventilated tunnels, voids etc.
3, Energy production
Non esplosive, coal particals, mixed with air, forms coal dust, which is capable of exploding during the processing stages such as extraction, grinding and drying which commonly give rise to explosive mixtures.
4, Sewage Disposal
In the treatment of waste water from sewage, resulting biogas mixtures may be explosive gas/air.
5, Gas supply
When natural gas is released due to leakage or similar phenomenon, explosive mixtures may be formed gas/air
6, Spray painting
The overspray which is formed when spray painting in a spray booth and the vapours of solvents mixed with air can give rise to explosive atmospheres.
7, Agriculture
Many farms have treatment plants which produce biogas. In case of the release of biogas due to leakage, explosive mixtures may be produced biogas/air.
8, Metallurgy
In the production of moulded parts made of metal, during treatment of the surface (grinding) explosive metalic dust may be formed. This is particularly true in the case of light metals. There is a risk that this metalic dust could explode in the extractors.
9, Food and animal feed industry
During the transport and storage of grain, explosive dust may occur. If this dust is drawn through and seperated by ventilation filters, an explosive atmosphere may be formed inside the filter.
10, Pharmaceuticical industry
Alcohol is often used as a solvent in the production of drugs. It could also be employed as active substances and additives, such as lactose, which may give rise to a dust explosion.
11, Refineries
Hydrocarbons treated in refineries are all flammable and depending on the flash point, can generate an explosive atmosphere even at room temperature. The environment in which you find the equipment for the treatment of oil is normally considered an area at risk of explosion.
12, Reclamation
The treatment of recyclable waste may create a risk of explosion, eg. due to poorly cleaned metal cans and other containers with gas and / or flamable liquids, paper dust or synthetic materials
